Apparently sasquatch socks are pink. I’m learning Grandjany’s Children’s Hour and the color name seemed wildly appropriate, though I don’t think the actual shade matches the color of the piece. A fellow musician asked me if I considered matching the color of my dress to the color of my recital pieces. I thought for a moment.
Duke was blue, and Renie was beige. Glinka red, Watkins green, Ravel gold. I played a number of character pieces this year, without any particular rhyme or reason backing my program. I think I’d like to put together a themed recital in the future, make something of a chapbook out of it. Maybe then I’ll find a unifying palette. I laugh at the idea, twirling, ballerina-like through my mind. I have no business running around writing poetry. I do it anyways.
